Role: T&D Business Development Manager –Americas
Salary: $150K–$160K + 20% bonus


Travel: 40%-50% within the US & Canada

Preferably in IL, but can be remote

 

About Our Client:

Our client, a prominent North American manufacturing firm, is looking to hire a T&D Business Development Manager –Americas for the office located in Illinois.



Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the T&D opportunity portfolio across North America, with a primary focus on the United States and Canada.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities aligned with the company's T&D growth strategy.
  • Develop and execute business development initiatives to increase market penetration and revenue.
  • Promote and position the company's T&D solutions and products with utilities, engineering firms, contractors, distributors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and industry decision-makers and identify emerging business opportunities.
  • Support Development Representatives and sales teams in responding to major customer opportunities and requests.
  • Engage with customers to understand current and future needs and translate market requirements into actionable product and business strategies.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and provide market intelligence to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with sales, product management, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to develop market development plans.
  • Support the development of budgets, sales forecasts, business cases, and growth plans.
  • Analyze complex tenders and opportunities, including commercial and economic considerations, to determine potential business value.
  • Operate effectively within a global, matrixed organization, coordinating activities across multiple functions and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in electrical Transmission & Distribution, electric utilities, power infrastructure, or a closely related industry.
  • Strong understanding of T&D products, applications, customers, and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales, business development, account management, or market development within the utility/electrical infrastructure sector.
  • Experience working with utilities, engineering firms, contractors, distributors, or other T&D stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate market needs into actionable commercial and operational strategies.
  • Experience with complex tenders, project economics, commercial analysis, and business cases.
  • Strong understanding of competitive markets and the ability to conduct market and competitor analysis.
  • Experience working within a matrix organization and coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • 40–60% travel throughout North America, primarily the United States and Canada.
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate different time zones and customer requirements.
  • No direct reports;success will depend heavily on influence, relationship management, and cross-functional leadership
