We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing company. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing various financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Reporting to the Controller and President, you will play a key role in a well-established, second-generation family business that is gearing up for significant growth. This role requires someone who can handle multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with other departments.
Core Responsibilities
Perform accounts payable and receivable tasks
Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations
Oversee cost accounting, inventory management, and cost variance analysis
Prepare and review financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
Participate in product pricing and maintain financial databases
Ensure compliance with GAAP and assist with internal audits
Manage payroll activities and associated reporting
Utilize ERP software for financial, HR, and payroll transactions
Identify and implement process improvements
Handle multi-state tax reporting and the preparation of 1099s and W-2s
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, budget development, and financial forecasts
Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules
Ideal Candidate Qualities
Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility to work overtime as needed
Familiarity with ERP systems, especially Oracle NetSuite
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Experience in double-entry bookkeeping and manufacturing accounting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
