Senior Production Manager
Responsibilities

Production:
  • Provide leadership and direction to production staff in an effort to foster quality, reliability, efficiency and safety.
  • Prepares shift schedules based on MRP, work orders, and business requirements
  • Ensures adherence to production schedule to satisfy customer and sales commitments
  • Identify areas needing production optimization, cost reduction, or process improvement
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for production operations
  • Ensure all manufacturing methods, standards and procedures for operations are followed
  • Performs time studies of operations, work (line) balancing and establishes staffing needs to support both current and future production output goals and labor efficiency

Quality and Process Improvement:
  • Develops a Lean and 5S manufacturing culture
  • Drives continuous improvement activities, manages area projects, develops and incorporates area improvements to maximize performance
  • Investigate production issues and identify root cause of issues, work cross functionally to incorporate corrective actions
  • Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by appropriate data analysis

Safety:
  • Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
  • Ensure the manufacturing and warehousing operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and visitors

Inventory:
  • Directs and coordinates effective utilization of materials, equipment, plant facilities and manpower to achieve business plan goals for production, quality and productivity
  • Manages the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations
  • Manage physical inventory of Raw and Finished goods
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts with an annual complete inventory count and reconciliation
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Manager to maintain optimal levels of inventory

People:
  • Plays an active role in personnel matters in the plant while developing and maintaining a positive employee work environment
  • Manage and lead your teams, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Strategy
  • Review P&L, financial statements, sales/activity reports, and performance data to measure productivity, goal achievement, and production optimization
  • Works closely with the Managing Director on financial, budget activities to fund operations, maximize capital investments, or to increase efficiency
  • Establishes manufacturing goals, objectives, standards, and works towards their attainment
  • Develop a manufacturing and operations vision for the future
  • Work closely with R&D to develop efficient release-to-manufacturing processes for new product introductions
  • Support all design and material changes and assist in the successful incorporation of the changes within the manufacturing department
  • Support all improvements, projects and management decisions

Requirements:
  • Education Level: Bachelors with emphasis in engineering, manufacturing or materials management
  • Experience: 5+ years management experience in a manufacturing environment with 3+ years inventory management or purchasing preferred
  • Experience with managing an ERP system such as Syspro, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or equivalent ERP system
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification a plus, preferred
  • Strong continuous improvement background to drive improvements in processes
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Standard Microsoft Office applications
