Senior Designer –Engineering Team Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate all CAD-related activities and staff
Develop and implement department-wide drawing, modeling, and documentation standards and protocols
Act as the lead modeler to ensure all designs meet functional requirements (clearances, tolerances, applicable standards, etc.)
Review and approve all designs prior to submission to product engineering
Stay current with the latest CAD technologies and industry best practices
Oversee CAD system updates and collaborate with IT on rollout timing
Develop and maintain CAD system data flows and integrations with systems such as Altium, SW Electrical, Abaqus, SW PDM, and ERP platforms to minimize errors and improve design quality
Work closely with lead engineers, managers, and program planners to ensure designs align with target requirements
Coordinate with project managers and lead product engineers on scheduling and workload planning
Prioritize team workload and monitor progress to ensure alignment with department goals and program deadlines
Track drawing releases and ensure they meet timing and quality standards
Resolve system and subsystem conflicts to meet program requirements on time and with high quality
Facilitate and participate in formal and informal design/virtual reviews
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and error prevention
Meet established team targets and key performance indicators
Support various management-related activities as needed
Maintain regular on-site presence
Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership
Team Management Responsibilities:
Provide daily supervision and leadership to the CAD team
Train, mentor, and develop CAD staff to enhance design capabilities
Maintain a well-rounded and balanced skill set within the team
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising CAD Designers in a manufacturing environment
Experience in lithium-ion battery pack design is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be eligible to support U.S. Military-funded projects and products
Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks, including administrative functions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
ITAR Compliance Requirement:
Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or otherwise authorized to work under ITAR regulations
