Job Description:
The External Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for generating and managing mortgage loan applications. This role requires a licensed professional with comprehensive knowledge of mortgage insurance pricing and underwriting, as well as credit underwriting and property eligibility standards for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with local, state, and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate new mortgage loan applications through external channels.
- Analyze and evaluate applicants' financial information to assess eligibility.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various mortgage insurance company requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and real estate professionals.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide guidance throughout the loan process.
Qualifications:
- Appropriate state license or certification (varies by state).
- Thorough knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of mortgage insurance companies.
- Working knowledge of credit underwriting and property eligibility requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors.
