About Our Client:
Our client is a full-service construction and project management consulting firm with a longstanding history supporting capital improvement programs across Los Angeles. They are seeking a Safety Manager to oversee multiple educational facility construction sites for a public-sector program.

This role is 100% on-site and involves rotating assignments across various college campuses in the region. The successful candidate will act as the owner's field representative for safety oversight, ensuring compliance with OSHA, program standards, and insurance protocols on active construction projects.


Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Oversee construction site safety for multiple active projects, performing daily inspections and ensuring compliance with current regulations
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards, site-specific safety plans, and Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements
  • Attend construction meetings with contractors and project teams;lead safety topics and provide site observation updates
  • Generate daily safety inspection reports and submit weekly HSE observation reports to project management
  • Review contractor safety documentation, including:
    • Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Methods of Procedure (MOP), Fall Protection Plans
    • Crane Lift Plans, Confined Space Entry, and other high-risk operation plans
  • Monitor contractor compliance with the zero-tolerance safety policy and implement corrective action procedures when necessary
  • Conduct site orientations with contractor safety representatives
  • Participate in safety stand-downs and lessons-learned reporting following incidents
  • Review incident reports and ensure timely reporting and response
  • Perform safety oversight related to demolition, renovation, abatement, and hazardous materials (e.G., asbestos, lead paint)
  • Maintain flexibility to work across multiple project sites throughout Los Angeles as assigned

QualificationsMinimum Required Experience:
  • 10 years of commercial construction experience in the U.S. With a general contractor
  • 5 years of experience in California with a contractor or major subcontractor
  • 2 years of experience on educational construction projects in a campus environment
  • Experience with renovation, demolition, and new construction
  • Experience managing multiple job sites and field safety teams
  • Experience working under OCIP safety programs
  • Proficiency in safety incident documentation and daily reporting

Required Certifications (Must Be Current):

  • One of the following:
    • Safety Management Specialist (SMS) –Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) –BCSP
    • Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC) –National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP)

  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Required Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, contractors, and construction management staff
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and standard reporting tools used in construction

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
  • Degree in Construction Management, Safety Engineering, or Safety Management
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Certification
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Additional industry-recognized safety or health credentials
