Process Engineer

Salary: $90, 000



Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement measurable improvements in process performance, manufacturability, quality, safety, and efficiency within assigned manufacturing cells.
  • Own equipment, process, and product quality performance;use scientific molding, automation, and technology to improve results.
  • Sample, troubleshoot, and qualify new tooling/processes to meet customer and operational performance requirements.
  • Partner with leadership and customers to define requirements and specifications for robust manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze defects, downtime, scrap, cycle time, and equipment trends;implement corrective actions.
  • Support root cause analysis, validations, engineering changes, process documentation, setup sheets, and standard work.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, tooling, automation, and quality to resolve issues affecting uptime, efficiency, or quality.
  • Promote the Quality Improvement Process and safe work practices;ensure manufacturing floor and PPE requirements are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2-year degree or 10 years’experience in plastics or related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of molding processes/equipment, injection molding, blow molding, assembly, and process troubleshooting.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Epicor ERP or similar ERP/business systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to understand tooling, machines, automation, and shop-floor equipment.
  • Ability to analyze process data and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, probability/statistics, geometry, and trigonometry to practical problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with operations, quality, maintenance, tooling, vendors, customers, and leadership.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to professional, timely, and accurate work.
  • 3+ years of process engineering, plastics, manufacturing engineering, technical manufacturing, or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience improving process performance, manufacturability, safety, quality, scrap, downtime, cycle time, and equipment efficiency.
  • Experience sampling, troubleshooting, and qualifying new tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting equipment/process/product quality in manufacturing cells and partnering cross-functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, tooling, and leadership.
  • Experience with scientific molding, automation, injection molding, blow molding, assembly operations, tool room activity, and process-driven manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with quality improvement processes, root cause analysis, validation, documentation, and ERP-based reporting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
  • Able to work in manufacturing floor, office, tool room, and production environments with exposure to noise, machinery, physical hazards, oils, and atmospheric conditions.
  • Must follow posted safety requirements and use required PPE, including eye protection on the production floor and in tool room areas.
  • Light work: may exert up to 40 lbs. Occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. Frequently;may need to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, grasp, and feel.
  • May use standard office equipment and equipment/tools such as digital camera, saws, sandblaster, surface grinder, lathe, mill machine, and hand tools.
  • Limited travel may be required to support vendors, customers, trials, tooling/process qualifications, or operational needs.
