Are you a proactive leader with a passion for materials planning, logistics, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced automotive environment? We’re seeking a Materials Manager to lead our materials operations at our Tuscaloosa plant. In this role, you’ll drive the success of our supply chain processes—from supplier coordination to inventory accuracy—while ensuring a seamless just-in-time delivery system for our automotive seating production line. What You’ll Do: As the Materials Manager, you will oversee a team dedicated to managing inbound materials and logistics to meet demanding production schedules. Your focus will include:
Ensuring steady flow of materials to meet customer demand without overstocking
Monitoring supplier shipment schedules and inventory levels
Collaborating across departments to streamline materials flow and optimize performance
Leading process improvements that reduce waste and enhance efficiency
Managing and mentoring a high-performing team within a lean manufacturing environment
Building strong, ethical partnerships with suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation
Overseeing physical inventory counts and resolving discrepancies
Developing and maintaining department budgets and ensuring cost-effective operations
Ensuring full compliance with safety standards, transportation regulations, and TS16949 requirements
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
Minimum 5 years of materials or logistics planning experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven knowledge of inventory control, warehousing, and transportation logistics
Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing workflows and cross-functional processes
Effective communicator with the ability to lead teams and coordinate with diverse departments
Familiarity with inventory management systems and planning tools
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business
Prior experience in a JIT automotive seating plant
Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP systems
