We’re looking for a Machine Shop Manager to lead daily operations in a 50-person shop specializing in both metal CNC and manual machining. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys solving problems on the floor, and knows how to balance people leadership with production demands.
What You’ll Do
Oversee day-to-day shop operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
Lead, mentor, and develop machinists and supervisors while fostering a collaborative culture.
Manage scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation using ERP/MRP systems.
Monitor tooling, materials, and machine utilization to optimize efficiency.
Review engineering drawings and GD&T to maintain precision and quality standards.
Drive Lean/5S/continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve issues quickly.
Track performance metrics (production, quality, delivery) and act on trends.
What You Bring
5+ years of machining experience (CNC and manual required).
2+ years in a leadership role (supervisory or management preferred).
Strong knowledge of tooling, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP scheduling systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Background with Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma practices a plus.
Strong decision-making, organizational, and communication skills.
Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
