Position Summary:
The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing MRO materials, consumables, equipment, and production-related components to support manufacturing operations. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring material availability, optimizing inventory levels, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong procurement, supplier management, inventory planning, and negotiation experience within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Source and procure MRO materials, consumables, equipment, and production-related supplies to support manufacturing operations.
Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and obtain competitive quotations for components and materials.
Analyze component cost, availability, and lead times to support production requirements.
Partner closely with manufacturing, production, receiving, and operations teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
Purchase materials required for quick-turn and expedited customer orders.
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and maintain profitability objectives.
Evaluate, select, and manage supplier relationships to ensure high levels of quality, service, responsiveness, and on-time delivery.
Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
Manage supplier quotations and maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
Analyze and minimize material shortages, overdue purchase orders, excess inventory, and Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
Participate in cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Prepare procurement reports and supplier performance metrics for management review.
Maintain accurate supplier information, lead times, pricing, and part master data within the ERP system.
Develop and update procurement procedures, work instructions, and process documentation as needed.
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and procurement procedures.
Support cross-functional teams in resolving supplier-related issues and supply chain risks.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience sourcing MRO materials, consumables, and production-related components.
Strong knowledge of MRP systems, JIT replenishment, Blanket Orders, and Kanban processes.
Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and inventory management processes.
Proven supplier negotiation and vendor management experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience within electronics, industrial manufacturing, technology, or related industries strongly preferred.
Knowledge of ISO quality standards and quality management systems.
Experience supporting supplier development and cost reduction initiatives.
Technical Skills:
Experience with ERP and MRP systems required.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong computer skills with experience utilizing supplier portals and internet-based sourcing tools.
