Position Overview: As a Legal Assistant specializing in personal injury, you will play a crucial role in supporting their legal team. You will assist in all aspects of personal injury cases, from client intake to case resolution. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills to interact with clients, medical providers, and opposing parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Intake: Interview potential clients, gather preliminary case information, and assist with the initial evaluation of the case's merits.
- Case Management: Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Medical Records: Request, review, and summarize medical records and bills relevant to each case.
- Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their cases and gathering necessary information.
- Drafting Documents: Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings under the guidance of attorneys, such as demand letters, settlement agreements, and discovery requests.
- Court Filings: Assist with court filings, including electronic filings, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Deposition and Trial Preparation: Coordinate and assist with deposition scheduling, trial preparation, and document organization.
- Settlement Negotiations: Engage in settlement negotiations under attorney supervision and help clients understand their options.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research as needed to support attorneys in building strong cases.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a legal assistant, with a focus on personal injury cases.
- Strong knowledge of personal injury case procedures and laws.
- Proficiency in legal software and MS Office Suite.
