About Our Client: Our client is a well-established construction and project management consulting firm that has supported large-scale capital improvement programs across the greater Los Angeles area for over a decade. They are currently seeking two (2) Interior Designers to join a high-impact public-sector initiative focused on modernizing educational facilities.
These are 100% on-site roles supporting a specialized project execution group focused on furniture, fixtures, and interior finishes. The successful candidates will support interior design work from conceptual space planning through procurement and installation oversight for K–12 schools and administrative buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate client needs and propose efficient furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E) solutions that meet design, budget, and timeline constraints
Develop space plans, architectural layouts, and FF&E specifications in compliance with public-sector and institutional standards
Create and maintain interior finish specifications, including lighting and electrical layouts
Review architectural and construction documents and conduct site visits to confirm layout feasibility, code compliance, and design integrity
Oversee FF&E procurement logistics, including scope definition, vendor consultations, and delivery scheduling
Prepare cost estimates and procurement contracts for FF&E packages
Coordinate with stakeholders including school administrators, facilities staff, and logistics personnel
Create interior renderings and presentation materials for stakeholder review
Maintain and update District-approved furniture and vendor lists
Provide support for furniture and equipment replacement at existing sites
Document project status, procurement records, and product recommendations
Participate in the development of procedural and product guidelines related to interiors
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements: Experience:
Minimum 8 years of full-time, professional interior design experience with a focus on space planning, furniture specification, and finish selection
Experience supporting public sector, K–12, or institutional projects preferred
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field OR
Completion of 40 semester units in interior design from an accredited institution plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills:
Expertise in space planning, FF&E specifications, and interior layouts
Strong knowledge of interior design principles, color theory, ADA and fire/life safety codes
Familiarity with sustainable materials and environmental guidelines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and technical specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to create and deliver professional design presentations
Must be able to commute to job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with public agency or school construction projects
Knowledge of educational furniture and equipment standards
Professional Interior Design studio experience
Project management or coordination experience in FF&E installations
Experience consulting with manufacturers and vendors on custom product design
Working knowledge of procurement processes, contract scoping, and budget tracking
Compensation:
Base Salary: $130, 000/year
Estimated Benefits Value: $29, 000/year
Total Compensation: $159, 000/year
