TITLE OF POSITION: IT Support Assistant DEPARTMENT: Information Services REPORTS TO: IT Systems Manager Position Summary Support the IT department in day-to-day operations, ensuring technology needs for the company are met. Provide IT services related to hardware and software maintenance and support for employee needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Install, operate, and maintain computer systems, communication systems, and related technology.
Configure hardware, software, and peripherals such as printers and scanners.
Perform system repairs and daily support for network users.
Manage data backups.
Ensure software and security updates are applied to desktops, laptops, and servers.
Complete internal employee moves including phones and equipment.
Generate purchase requisitions for IT hardware/software.
Prepare monthly IT expense reports.
Track and maintain software licensing.
Perform Exchange server mailbox maintenance.
Manage user account creation and deactivation.
Assist with IT-related initiatives and troubleshooting.
Handle IT security and hardware needs for new employees and ensure proper offboarding for former employees.
Communicate IT processes and deadlines to staff.
Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of computer and network hardware and software systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and various versions of Windows and Server environments.
Knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
Capable of handling confidential information.
Attention to detail.
Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Experience
1-5 years of relevant work experience.
Education
Associate degree in information systems or computer science preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
IT certification (e.G., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) is a plus.
Required
US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status.
