Housing Inspector



Responsibilities:
· Conduct inspections for all Housing Services as well as provide Maintenance support.
  • Identify innovative approaches, implementing performance improvement opportunities.
  • Maintains compliance and procedures in accordance with governing laws and regs.
  • Perform on all initial move ins, annual recertification and special inspections on single-family residences, townhouses, and apartments to ensure that properties meet Federal and local housing standards.
  • Inspections in locations that include but are not limited to Allegheny County.
  • Ability to explain ordinance / inspection requirements and nature of violations to achieve compliance with owners, land-lords and clients.
  • Document and generate reports on all unit deficiencies as well as environmental health and safety
  • Completes the Inspection Checklist (HUD-52580) reflecting from the results of inspection.
  • All inspections must include to determine rent meets Fair Market Values.
  • The Inspector may be responsible for the scheduling of all inspections to include but not limited to setting up the initial inspection with prospective owner / landlord regarding inspection.
  • Schedule deficiencies based on the
  • Supports the relationship between owner / landlord, client and program coordinator.



Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in building trades or maintenance
  • PA driver's license and registered, insured, operable vehicle.
  • Certified Housing Quality Standards must be obtained within 3 months of employment. Preferred at time of hire.
  • Complete Lead Base Paint training.
  • Must have general knowledge Microsoft Office software.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of assignments and to work under pressure of deadlines including flexibility in work schedule.
  • Must have knowledge of: residential and multi-family building codes; maintaining health standards; HUD policies and regulation under the program and related state and local agencies.
  • Must be able to communicate verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Ability to use methods and techniques of dealing with high risk disabled population communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
