Our client is seeking an experienced Header Department/Shop Manager to lead, optimize, and oversee the production processes within a high-demand manufacturing environment. This leadership role is critical to ensuring efficient workflows, adherence to safety and quality standards, and fostering a positive and productive work culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Workflow Management: Develop work procedures, prepare schedules, assign tasks, and ensure all work meets quality, safety, and policy standards. Maintain harmony and address grievances among team members.
Process Standardization: Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency, including implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques for quality, cost reduction, and on-time delivery.
Cross-Department Coordination: Work closely with other managers to align on production, inventory management, and quality assurance processes.
Safety & Compliance: Oversee adherence to safety protocols, handle incident reporting, and conduct regular safety meetings to ensure a secure workplace.
Employee Development: Provide coaching and conduct annual performance reviews for a team of 60-75 non-exempt employees, with ongoing feedback to foster skill development.
Production & Budget Management: Plan and monitor department budget, manage production schedules according to the NGOS report, and adjust labor requirements as necessary.
Equipment & Maintenance Oversight: Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and address repair needs.
Continuous Improvement: Drive improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing capital investments, tracking performance measures, and utilizing visual controls.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of management experience in a manufacturing setting, with a strong knowledge of Lean methodologies and production standards.
Proven ability to lead large teams, resolve conflicts, and foster a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment;ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or GED required;additional management or engineering education is preferred.
