JOB DESCRIPTION – GENERAL ACCOUNTANT
OVERVIEW
- Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of company, as well as the decisions made by the Board of Directors and Administrators.

- Hold in strict confidence all matters pertaining to the Academy.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Student Handbooks
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the CFO, is primarily responsible for ensuring the completion of all accounting activity and ensure the integrity and reliability of the financial records and reports of Acadamy. Assist in all accounting and financial reporting functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Accounts Receivable - Manage the collection, maintenance, and reporting of student accounts to ensure accounts are accurately recorded in accordance with Company accounting practice.
- Establishes student accounts based on accepted student enrollment agreements, including payment plan.
- Receives and deposits student account payments and incidental fees received.
- Maintains complete documentation of all cash receipts and deposits in accordance with internal control and audit requirement.
- Works directly with student families on the timely receipt of all due tuition and fees.
- Coordinates the proper recording of donations/gifts with the Development Department
- Cash Management – Actively leads processes for managing cash flows.
- Provides direct leadership for Accounts Payable personnel and processes.
- Prepares cash forecasts as required for review with the President, CFO, and Academy Board.
- General Accounting Management – Ensures and supports monthly completion of all required Accounting activities, including but not limited to:
- Payroll - Documents and posts payroll records
- Credit Cares – Manages the control and recording of credit card activity
- Investments – Records monthly investment transactions
- Account Reconciliations – Ensures all required banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, investment and other accounts are reconciled on a timely basis.
- Other Duties as Assign - Perform other financial activities as directed including, but not limited to:
- Assist in the preparation of the external audit.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements for reporting to President, staff and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure procedures for areas of responsibility are documented and updated as necessary.
- Protects organization’ s value by keeping information confidential.
- Perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’ s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with a major in accounting, or business or other related fields with an emphasis or minor in accounting.
- At least two years of experience in public or private accounting, finance, and/or fiscal management.
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word required.
- Education or other non-profit experience preferred.
