Field Metrology Technician (Laser Technician)

Salary Wages are 25.00 to 35.00. They are also paid by day pay when in the field. First 8 hours are regular, anything over 8 is Overtime, anything over 12 is double time BUT when traveling to and from job site it is straight regular wages no overtime and no double time. Plus all travel expenses.

Our Client is seeking an experienced Field Metrology Technician (Laser Technician) to support precision measurement and alignment services across industrial sites. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who is comfortable working in the field, traveling extensively, and supporting critical industrial equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field metrology services including laser tracking, laser alignment, and precision measurement
Conduct inspections, alignments, and dimensional verification of industrial equipment and components
Set up, operate, and maintain laser metrology equipment and associated software
Analyze measurement data and prepare clear, accurate reports for customers and internal teams
Work closely with field service, machining, and operations teams to support job execution
Interface directly with customers at job sites in a professional and technical manner
Follow all safety procedures and site-specific requirements
Travel extensively to customer locations (approximately 60% travel)
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of hands-on experience in field metrology
Strong working knowledge of laser trackers, alignment systems, and precision measurement tools
Experience working in industrial environments such as:
Power generation
Oil & gas
Mining
Heavy industrial manufacturing
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications
Comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Willing and able to travel extensively (60%)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with leading metrology systems (e.G., Leica, FARO, API, or similar)
Background in rotating equipment, turbines, compressors, or large industrial assemblies
Previous field service or industrial outage experience
