Job Title: Facilities Engineer
Contract Duration: December 9, 2024 –June 8, 2025 (6-month contract with potential extension) Location: Houston, TX Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week Job Overview The Facilities Engineer will join the Facilities Engineering Team at the Houston, TX office, reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager for Emissions Compliance within the USON Facilities Engineering & Construction department. This role will focus on managing and coordinating projects to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards while meeting budgetary and scheduling objectives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating, designing, and executing facility projects with a focus on emissions compliance and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, environmental, regulatory, and safety personnel, to evaluate and execute projects effectively.
Design & Modifications: Manage the design and coordination of closed vent modifications to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Technical Strategy Development: Develop strategies with technical, maintenance, and operational teams to address recurring leaks and evaluate new technologies.
Documentation & Approvals: Create cost estimates, execution plans, design basis documents, and AFEs for project approvals. Ensure management of change approvals are identified, coordinated, and completed.
Construction Coordination: Work with third-party engineering firms and field personnel to develop construction drawings and RFQ packages.
Facility Optimization: Walk down facilities to identify process improvements that align with production goals and zero-emission objectives.
Safety & Troubleshooting: Coordinate pre-start-up safety reviews and assist operations personnel with troubleshooting and ensuring the proper operation of facilities.
Equipment Sizing: Size and select production equipment, including vapor recovery units, combustors/flares, and vent piping systems.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum of 7 years of design and construction experience in upstream Oil & Gas.
Proficiency with surface equipment, process conditions, and safety systems for Central Tank Batteries (CTB) and Central Gathering Compression (CGC).
Strong computer skills, including MS Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Proven ability to diagnose abnormal operating conditions and provide actionable technical recommendations.
Preferred:
Proficiency with modeling software such as Aspen Hysys, ProMax, and PipeSim.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME BPV).
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Experience with emissions compliance and zero-emission objectives.
Willingness to travel to field locations in Texas and New Mexico as required.
