We are a prominent national provider specializing in high and medium-voltage electrical services for the electric utility, power generation, industrial, and renewable energy sectors. Right now, we're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with an EIT or PE to work on high-voltage systems like substations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The employee may be tasked with performing any or all of the following functions:
Collaborate with the project team to execute specific tasks assigned for creating design documents and drawings, including the generation of wiring diagrams from schematics, compiling bills of materials, and incorporating field mark-ups into project as-built drawings under direct supervision.
Execute engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, simplified load flow, and short circuit calculations under direct supervision.
Acquire and apply proficiency in engineering application software for tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies under direct supervision.
Fulfill assigned tasks to meet project schedule requirements for engineering and design efforts.
Learn and apply engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
Familiarize oneself with and effectively use the document management system.
Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of one's work.
Identify potential project-related problems and suggest possible solutions to the responsible party.
Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required, with a power focus preferred.
An Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain an EIT certificate within one year of hire is required.
Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.
