Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Design Battery Management Systems (BMS) control circuits for diverse applications – commercial, military, and industrial Lithium-Ion battery packs.
- Lead requirements capture meetings, defining the scope of electrical hardware tasks.
- Execute comprehensive circuit design and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) development for BMS hardware.
- Utilize Altium for circuit simulation and PCB layout.
- Ensure appropriate component ratings are selected across designs.
- Create and optimize PCB layouts using Altium.
- Generate a Bill of Materials for each BMS control circuit design.
- Perform thorough testing of BMS PCBs to validate proper functionality.
- Head cross-functional design reviews, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements.
- Provide complete design outputs and justification documentation for PCB manufacturing.
- Perform system-level tests and troubleshoot Lithium-Ion Battery Management Systems and Packs.
- Create system-level block diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for Lithium-Ion Battery Systems.
- Select appropriate electrical components (fuses, shunts, connectors) for battery models and pack systems.
- Develop hardware for BMS and battery test systems.
- Aid in end-of-line testing of battery packs to guarantee optimal performance pre-shipment.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- Hold a Bachelor’ s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Accumulate 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, including at least two years of embedded control circuit design focus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in designing and laying out complex PCB boards.
- Expertise in analog and digital electronic circuits with embedded microprocessors.
- Preferred proficiency in Altium and LTspice.
- Experience in composing DFMEA for electrical systems.
- Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written, and visual.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Bonus: Experience with Lithium-Ion battery products.
- Preferred familiarity with the use of CANalyzer.
- Expertise in Design for EMC/EMI.
