The Director of Housing is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of housing counseling services. This role includes providing comprehensive advice on home buying, mortgage acquisition, first-time homebuyer programs, post-purchase workshops, pre-foreclosure counseling, rental guidance, and budgeting for housing. The Director will lead initiatives to help clients achieve their housing goals and improve their financial stability through effective budgeting and credit management.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage the housing counseling team to deliver high-quality services.
Develop and implement housing counseling programs and workshops.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including HUD guidelines.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making improvements as necessary.
Client Services:
Provide direct counseling services to clients on various housing issues.
Offer guidance on buying a home, obtaining a mortgage, and managing homeownership.
Conduct workshops and educational sessions on homebuying, budgeting, and foreclosure prevention.
Assist families in developing budgets and financial plans to improve their credit scores and achieve housing stability.
Program Development and Implementation:
Design and launch new initiatives to expand housing counseling services.
Develop partnerships with other organizations and agencies to enhance service delivery.
Create and distribute educational materials and resources for clients.
Outreach and Advocacy:
Represent the organization in the community and at industry events.
Advocate for affordable housing and support policies that benefit clients.
Collaborate with local, state, and national housing organizations.
Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and submit reports to funders and regulatory bodies.
Maintain accurate records of client interactions and program outcomes.
Ensure all counseling services meet the highest standards of quality and ethics.
Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in housing counseling or a related field.
Proven track record of leadership in housing counseling, demonstrated by previous roles such as Director of Housing or Housing Counselor.
Education and Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, finance, public administration, or a related field.
Certified Housing Counselor credentials are a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and implement effective housing counseling programs.
Knowledge of HUD regulations and housing counseling best practices.
Proficiency in budgeting and financial planning.
