About Our Client:
Our client is a full-service project and construction management consulting firm with over 20 years of experience in the Los Angeles area. They are seeking a Design Manager II - Airport Terminal Projects for an upcoming project. The Design Manager II will join an existing team with the End-Client to lead design efforts on major capital improvement projects. The selected candidate will work closely with a diverse team of planners, architects, engineers, and other technical professionals to oversee the design of terminal and infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, engineers, and other professionals to guide the planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and activation of various airport capital improvement projects.
Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to develop a business case for potential capital projects.
Develop and present preliminary design alternatives and comparative analyses to address requests and concerns from leadership and project stakeholders throughout the planning and design process.
Review planning and design submittals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to applicable project requirements;provide meaningful and constructive feedback to the planning and design team, including reviewing and commenting on conformance to applicable codes, regulations, industry standards, and unique owner performance requirements.
Solicit feedback from internal and external stakeholders and guide design teams through competing interests and project constraints to ensure the best possible outcomes in terms of quality, cost, schedule, sustainability, resiliency, innovation, user experience, constructability, operational flexibility, and maintainability.
Manage planning and design efforts throughout all project stages, including Project Definition, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration, to ensure that projects fulfill their mission while remaining on schedule and on budget.
Facilitate smooth transitions as projects advance from planning through design, procurement, construction, and activation.
Manage design efforts across multiple projects to ensure a cohesive architectural statement and user experience throughout the terminal environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience, preferably on large, complex airport capital projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI).
Familiarity with Planning & Design Software (AutoDesk, SketchUp).
Experience with preparing Planning Documents and Preliminary Design Packages for Capital Projects, including Business Case, Alternatives Analysis, Project Definition Books, Concept Design, Schematic Design, and Technical Performance Criteria.
Experience with preparing comprehensive Design & Construction Documents, such as Design Development, Bidding & Procurement Documents, Plan-Check & Permit Submittals, Construction Documents, RFI & Submittal Reviews, and Record Documents.
Experience with Alternative Delivery Methods, including Progressive Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).
Experience managing aviation projects and engaging with regulatory agencies, such as CBP, DHS, FAA, and TSA.
Strong background in Plan-Check and Permitting processes, preferably in the Los Angeles area.
Familiarity with the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of airport facilities, including terminals, roadways, runways, and related infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications - but Not Mandatory:
Licensed Architect or Engineer is desirable but not required.
Optional certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP, etc., are desirable.
