Job Description


We are currently in search of Controls Engineer & Technicians for building automation systems, in and around Madison WI. This is a field job with minimal to no travel beyond day trips. The ideal candidate should possess outstanding technical skills and will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Controls and Facility Management Systems according to plans and specifications provided by the engineering team. They will provide comprehensive information to effectively communicate designs to customers, the field installation team, and subcontractors. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a high degree of integrity, work independently, and exhibit strong analytical abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To excel in this role, the individual must proficiently perform each essential duty. Additional duties may be assigned:
  • Ensure the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs for field teams;participate in engineering turnover meetings with the project field team.
  • Troubleshoot system problems, collaborating with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and making modifications to existing BMS systems.
  • Configure operator workstations and all required software.
  • Calibrate, configure and perform point-to-point verification of controllers, peripherals, and power supplies.
  • Conduct functional testing of the specified sequence of operations to ensure the proper operation of controlled electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain communication with project management and/or customers upon arrival and before departure from the work site, keeping customers informed of progress.
  • Review customers' systems and, if necessary, identify other areas for improvement, keeping management informed of customer concerns and issues.
  • Participate in 3rd party commissioning of controlled systems.
  • Complete all necessary commissioning documentation and provide accurate information for as-built documentation.
  • Provide site-specific training for owners/operators on the total system and assist with turnover to service.
  • Communicate effectively with general or mechanical contractors, consultants, architect engineers, and other subcontractors as required.
  • Adhere to safety standards and prioritize employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Ability to convey technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Prior experience with computer-aided design;strong PC skills are desirable.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of general controls engineering experience. No building automation experience is required- PLC programming from any industry is fine
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record as required by the company's insurance provider.
