About the Opportunity:


Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large public-sector capital improvement program in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Safety Manager to oversee construction safety compliance across multiple active project sites.

This role is responsible for monitoring contractor safety performance, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and program safety requirements, and supporting safety reporting and risk mitigation across a portfolio of projects. The position works closely with project teams, contractors, and program leadership to maintain a safe and compliant construction environment.

This role supports capital construction and modernization projects within a structured public-sector program and requires regular presence across multiple job sites.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements
  • Perform daily safety inspections and site observations across active construction sites
  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly safety reports and documentation
  • Review contractor safety submittals including JHAs, fall protection plans, lift plans, and hazard assessments
  • Participate in construction meetings and lead safety discussions (toolbox talks)
  • Identify safety risks and ensure mitigation measures are implemented
  • Monitor adherence to safety policies, procedures, and corrective action protocols
  • Review and manage incident reports and support safety investigations
  • Coordinate with project teams and contractors on safety compliance and reporting
  • Support program-level safety reporting and analysis
  • Ensure compliance with insurance and safety program requirements
  • Support safety orientation and training activities


Mandatory Requirements:


(Candidates must meet all requirements)
  • Minimum 10+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in California construction environments
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience on educational or campus construction projects
  • Strong experience managing safety across multiple construction sites
  • Experience working on demolition, renovation, and new construction projects
  • Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP)
  • Valid safety certification such as CHST, SMS, or CSMC
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
  • Experience with hazardous materials, abatement, and remediation projects
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard construction software tools
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Los Angeles and travel between multiple sites


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Safety Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Additional safety certifications and credentials
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Current OSHA 500 certification
  • Experience working on large public-sector or capital improvement programs
