They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in sustainability to support bond-funded capital projects focused on electrification, energy efficiency, and sustainable building systems.
This role is fully dedicated to capital construction and modernization projects and does not include routine facilities maintenance or operations work. The position supports districtwide clean energy, carbon reduction, and electrification initiatives across multiple active college campuses.
This is a full-time, 100% on-site role in Los Angeles within a regulated public-sector environment. Key Responsibilities
Support sustainability-focused capital construction and modernization projects under a public bond program
Review and provide technical input on sustainability and energy-related project designs
Support electrification of central plants and building systems aligned with clean energy initiatives
Apply sustainable building principles to complex electrical and systems-level issues
Support districtwide energy master planning, carbon reduction, grid resiliency, and electrification initiatives
Apply knowledge of LEED and other sustainability frameworks and their operational impacts
Ensure compliance with California energy and building codes, including Title 24 and ASHRAE standards
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers and consultants
Provide technical peer review support for RFIs, RFCs, and Change Orders
Support integration of LED lighting, photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage (BESS), EV charging, microgrids, and smart controls
Participate in meetings and travel to project sites as required
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS(Applicants must meet ALL of the following)Experience:
Minimum 10 years of professional electrical engineering experience, with a focus on power systems for facilities infrastructure
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting educational facility construction
Strong working knowledge of:
California Energy Codes
Title 24 Energy Code
National Electrical Code (NEC)
California Green Building Standards (CALGreen)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Availability:
Ability to work 100% on-site in Los Angeles
Preferred Qualifications (Not mandatory)
Experience with LEED and/or CHPS projects
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (U.S.)
Experience working with DSA or similar regulatory authorities
Experience supporting sustainability initiatives in public-sector or institutional environments
Required Skills
Electrical systems design and analysis for institutional facilities
Sustainability and energy-efficiency integration
Regulatory and code compliance
Multidisciplinary coordination and technical communication
Strong documentation and technical reporting skills
