Our client is actively seeking multiple CNC Machinists for 2nd or 3rd shift operations. As part of a growing team, the operator will work with limited supervision and collaborate with team members as needed. The machining cell may operate on three shifts, and staffing may vary based on workload requirements. So we are looking for a candidate who can work independently and on a team!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and run machines manually and automatically, ensuring good machining, quality, and safety practices.
Set tooling to close tolerances, frequently less than .001.
Perform supplementary operations, including gaging, part loading, unloading, deburring, fixture loading, serializing, etc., during the machine cycle.
Use precision measuring equipment such as indicators, dial or electronic bore gages, Jo Blocks, micrometers, verniers, etc.
Assist during prove-outs, adjusting feeds, speeds, etc., to establish a program running without operator intervention. Capable of editing programs and communicating changes to the Programmer.
Perform daily, weekly, and other scheduled minor preventative maintenance tasks. Maintain good housekeeping practices.
Communicate with other Shift Operators on machine and tool operations, contributing to smooth cell operation.
Suggest improvements to Tool life, part quality, productivity, communication, and overall cell effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience on production machines, including turning, boring, and milling operations with carbide tooling. At least 2 years on NC or CNC equipment.
Ability to set up, modify programs, run machines, and use QC gages independently.
Proficiency in conversational programming or machining is highly valued.
Familiarity with CNC machine brands such as DMG Mori, Cincinnati, Mazak, Weiler, Tacchi, Doosan, etc.
Experience with Fanuc and Siemens controls, G-code, and conversational programming.
This role requires adaptability and skill;it's not for button-pushers.
Operators must be able to read and modify programs, adjust offsets, and add basic features.
Good knowledge and application of shop math, including basic trigonometry.
Ability to read blueprints, programs, and sketches.
Familiarity with precision measuring equipment.
Practical knowledge of cutting tools.
Ability to work independently or self-directed.
Physical demands include standing at the machine for up to 8-10 hours per day, frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
