About Our Client:
Our client is a full-service project and construction management consulting firm with over 20 years of experience in the Los Angeles area. They are seeking an Architect II to join their team for an upcoming project. The Architect II will be part of an existing team of planners, architects, engineers, and other technical professionals who are dedicated to planning and designing the next wave of capital investments with the End-Client, including airfield improvements, terminal improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.
Candidates must meet all required qualifications:
Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, engineers, and other professionals to guide the planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and activation of various airport capital improvement projects.
Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to develop a business case for potential capital projects.
Develop and present preliminary design alternatives and comparative analyses to address requests and concerns from leadership and project stakeholders throughout the planning and design process.
Review planning and design submittals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to applicable project requirements, providing constructive feedback regarding codes, regulations, industry standards, and performance requirements.
Solicit feedback from internal and external stakeholders and guide design teams through competing interests and project constraints to ensure the best possible outcomes in terms of quality, cost, schedule, sustainability, resiliency, innovation, user experience, constructability, operational flexibility, and maintainability.
Manage planning and design efforts across all project stages, including Project Definition, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration, to ensure that projects fulfill their mission while adhering to schedule and budget constraints.
Facilitate smooth transitions as projects advance from planning through design, procurement, construction, and activation.
Manage design efforts across multiple projects to ensure a cohesive architectural statement and user experience throughout the airport environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, etc.), or a related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience.
Licensed Architect (preferably by California Board of Architects - however license with another state will be considered).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI).
Familiarity with Planning & Design Software (AutoDesk, SketchUp).
Experience with preparing Planning Documents and Preliminary Design Packages for Capital Projects, including Business Case, Alternatives Analysis, Project Definition Books, Concept Design, Schematic Design, and Technical Performance Criteria.
Experience with Alternative Delivery Methods, including Progressive Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).
Experience managing aviation projects and engaging with regulatory agencies, such as CBP, DHS, FAA, and TSA.
Strong background in Plan-Check and Permitting processes, preferably in the Los Angeles area.
Familiarity with the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of airport facilities, including terminals, roadways, runways, and related infrastructure.

AAAE: American Association of Airport Executives
CASp: Certified Access Specialist Program
LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
PMP: Project Management Professional
