The Controls Technician role involves troubleshooting and leading efforts to identify mechanical, electrical, or computer system-related problems affecting the manufacturing process. The incumbent will play a crucial role in educating and guiding electro-mechanics to enhance their ability to troubleshoot automated and electrical systems, ultimately preventing unnecessary downtime.
Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of factory maintenance and E&A strategy and executing activities in alignment with factory and corporate standards, specifications, local codes, and regulations. The technician will also contribute to the development and design of future system installations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitoring, isolating problems, and performing repairs.
Demonstrate proficiency with AB programmable logic controllers.
Configure, troubleshoot, and commission PLC and HMI-based control systems, making minor programming changes as needed.
Direct and oversee the maintenance of programs for PLCs and PCs, coordinating with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, IT staff, and Production and Maintenance personnel.
Guide and mentor less experienced team members.
Understand industrial power circuits, and installation practices, and adhere to general OSHA safety practices.
Comprehend plant electrical criteria, standards, and company guidelines.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, level switches, valve actuators, positioners, and weighing systems.
Enforce PLC/HMI policy and procedures.
Document system modifications for maintaining an accurate registry.
About You:
Holds an Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Possesses a minimum of 3 years of relevant automation experience with HMI, SCADA, PLCs, and general control system design.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, and Allen-Bradley controls/controllers.
Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair is an added advantage.
